Councillor Joe Lever - Carisbrooke & Gunville Ward

I’ve been a councillor for two years now, being elected in May 2021, and throughout that time I've been working hard representing residents of my ward.

Here's a summary of some of the work I've been doing this past year:
 

• 100% attendance at all IWC full council meetings this past year and since my election.
• Elected as Chair of the Policy and Scrutiny Committee for Neighbourhoods & Regeneration where I’ve attended all but one meeting this past year.
• Elected as Vice Chair of the Policy and Scrutiny Committee for Children’s Services, Education and Skills.
• Elected to the Corporate Scrutiny Committee.
• Attended planning meetings where I have spoken on applications, raising resident concerns.
• Regularly attending meetings for various resident and community organisations and providing them with updates and taking on casework.
• Followed up multiple planning enforcement issues to get resolutions for residents.
• Working with council officers to get action on fly-tipping within my ward.
• Pushing for clarity on the proposed consultation for traffic regulation orders within my ward.
• Working with resident and community groups on local events.
• Helped - and continue to help - residents with enquiries regarding planning enforcement, council tax, highway fixes, and much more.
