Annual Report 2024
Councillor Suzie Ellis, Central Rural Ward, April 2024.
Supporting the community I represent and helping residents has remained my priority throughout my third year as IW Councillor for Central Rural.
As always much of my time has been taken up with planning issues, with our planning department continuing to be under resourced and having also had the additional pressures of the devastating landslips and extreme flooding incidents we have so sadly experienced of late. I have worked hard with residents, parish councils, applicants and officers to find resolutions to issues raised, and remain committed to seeking fair and balanced outcomes for all.
I continue to actively engage with residents on a number of local issues, working with Island Roads and IWC officers on flooding and associated road safety issues, and working to resolve matters to do with fly tipping, council tax, environmental health, rights of way and policing.
I continue to be actively involved with local schools.
I work closely with Parish Councils and resident groups, and I represent our ward regular attendance at Council and Partner meetings.
I have been pleased to work closely with other councillors and local groups on environmental issues, particularly around sewage spills and plastic pollution.
I am always glad to hear from residents and look forward to meeting and working with more of you this coming year.
I am proud to represent Central Rural at the Isle of Wight Council, and will continue to give my best.
I thank residents for their support.
Suzie Ellis
