Annual Report 2022
Councillor David Adams – Nettlestone and Seaview Ward
As a civic leader I was asked and proud to lay a wreath at the remembrance service in November.
I have taken up a number of residents` planning concerns – including those relating to a new vehicular access onto Puckpool Hill considered by many to be dangerous, but which it turned out did not require planning authority.
I have supported the Friends of Hersey Nature Reserve to get the bird hide repaired and tried to get an occasional police presence to tackle vandalism and drug use at the site.
I have met with residents about various flood issues in the parish and:
I have successfully worked on behalf of residents to get road drains unblocked (which have alleviated flood issues) and remain pressing for resolution of an ongoing drainage problem outside Parkview, Barnsley Lane.
I have been working with Southern Water and Raymond Simonds (Resident) to resolve issues relating to storm overflows and to secure the repair of 3 broken pipes that discharge onto the beach. I invited Southern Water to a public meeting in regard to this issue which was kindly hosted by the Sea View Yacht Club.
I have represented residents who are against proposed Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) and have recognised the residents` need for on street parking due to the numbers of older properties that do not have off street parking facilities.
I have taken up concerns over the standard of work on roads/pavements (mainly wightfibre) and was successful in getting contractors to return on several occasions to tidy and sweep up properly.
