A different year to say the least, ready to fine tune brexit details, make or re- new, laws, borders and deals with the rest of the world. Just getting to the negotiating table and the whole world is hit by coronavirus sadly taking so many lives and causing dire illness.
Thankfully our NHS, nursing and care homes and all the services on the island stepped up to the plate, and with our county council working to government guidelines, let's not forget we were one of the safest places to live. Unfortunately, a new strain of covid 19 has taken a hold this last couple of months but our NHS and county hall are now distributing the vaccines hopefully quicker than the virus can spread. Don't forget to always keep to the left when out walking? We will get through this. God Willing.
Around town, which I feel is continually improving, albeit slowly. Our local business and volunteers are managing to hang on in there and look after us.
With Island roads, island wide contract giving us the best roads it can within the funding structure, never the less on-going works in progress. New steps off dudley road car park, repairs to wheelers bay and the cliff walk, to name a few.
Many residents also ask for my help on personal matters, which they are having problems with, medical, social services, education and housing etc.
Other, not so personal issues include planning, illegal parking, campsites. If you need help, feel free to ask, I will try to open the right doors and dialogue to get your problem solved. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience at county hall waiting to help and I am pleased to act as your middle man.
