Additional Information
Welcome to my Isle of Wight Council website.
I've been Isle of Wight Councillor for Cowes West and Gurnard since 2009 and feel very privilege to be elected by residents to represent our Community's views at County Hall.
As an Independent Councillor, and part of the Council's 8 strong Independent Group, I am not aligned to any political party- which I consider helps me to put the needs of all local residents first.
Within this website you can read my Register of Interests, and monitor which meetings I have been attending, however if you require the above information plus much more besides (Annual Reports, Monthly Reports, Surgeries etc), please visit my regularly updated Councillors Blog.
If for any reason you require my support, please call me at home (24hrs), email me, text me or failing this write to me. If I cannot help, I will try to put you in touch with somebody that can!! Alternatively, please pop along to one of my surgeries (no appointment is necessary!)
As an Isle of Wight Councillor, I serve on the IW Council's Planning Committee, Licensing Committee, Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Economy & Environment Scrutiny Committee, Children & Young People Scrutiny Committee, Appeals Panel and Full Council.
Outside the Isle of Wight Council, I also serve as a Cowes Town Councillor, Northwood Parish Councillor and Gurnard Parish Councillor; a School Governor, a Magistrate sitting on the Adult, Youth and Domestic Abuse Benches; I am a Trustee for the Friends of Northwood Cemetery, I serve on the Footprint Trust, the Local Access Forum and Cowes Youth Forum.
My family has lived in and around the Cowes Area for many generations, and I was born and raised in Gurnard attending Gurnard, Solent and Cowes High Schools.
On returning to the Island in 1990, I became active 'politically' within the Green Party and was selected to stand for Council before becoming the youngest prospective MEP in the the European Elections in 1994. Disenchanted in Party Politics in local decision making, I became Independent and from 1995 until 2001 I represented Ryde North East as Councillor.
I returned to the Cowes Area in 2000 and remain active as a Town Councillor for Cowes; a Parish Councillor for Gurnard and most recently Parish Councillor for Northwood.
I have been married to my long suffering wife, Karen since 1993 and have two children Caelan, and Zara who both attend Cowes Enterprise College.
