Annual Report 2020
Councillor Richard Hollis – Newport West Ward
I was elected to the Isle of Wight Council in December 2019 as the Conservative Candidate.
I am most grateful to be elected and I represent everyone equally. During the election I was aware of the problems of parking, inconsistent yellow line marking and the problems with school unloading and pick up. I was also made aware of cars which park inconsiderately in residential streets.
I am also aware of the concerns of residents in Caesars Road, with laden lorries that use that road.
We all are affected by traffic congestion in one way or another. I have asked Island Roads to put double yellow lines on the corner of Purdy Road and Wellington Road and other places where commuter parking causes a problem.
I have always specialised in Planning and I now am back on the IOW Planning Committee. I am also on the Corporate Scrutiny Committee and the Health and Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee.
I am always happy to take up just causes, for example a number of people have contacted me regarding being able to remain in their cars for ferry crossings, whilst the Covid 19 pandemic continues.
I also am a member of Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council.
Since the lockdown, both my Wife and I have had Covid 19 thus we have been isolating.
I welcome e-mail communication and help where I can.
