THAT the minutes of the meeting held on 9 November 2023 be approved.

Declarations of Interest

To invite Members to declare any interest they might have in the matters on the agenda.

Minutes:

Councillor C Jarman declared an interest as the appellant lived in his ward and he knew the appellant professionally through the Pension Fund.

 

Councillor D Andre declared an interest as she knew one of the complainants as they sat on the adoption panel, however there had  been no contact for some time.

Public Question Time - 15 Minutes Maximum

Questions may be asked without notice but to guarantee a full reply at the meeting, a question must be put including the name and address of the questioner by delivery in writing or by electronic mail to Democratic Services at democratic.services@iow.gov.uk, no later than two clear working days before the start of the meeting. Therefore the deadline for written questions will be Friday, 15 December 2023.

Exclusion of the Public and Press

To consider passing a resolution that, under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business, namely Agenda item number 8, on the grounds that there is likely to be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs and of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act and in all the circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

RESOLVED:

 

THAT, under section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business, namely minute number 38, on the grounds that there is likely to be disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1 and 2 and 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act and in all the circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information, namely ‘information relating to any individual’ (paragraph 1), ‘information which is likely to reveal the identity of an individual’ (paragraph 2), and ‘information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority holding that information)’ (paragraph 3)

Appeal against dismissal (Confidential)

To hear and determine an appeal against dismissal by any employee.

Minutes:

The Chairman welcomed those present. The appellant was in attendance.

 

Consideration was given to an appeal relating to a dismissal.

 

Following oral representations from both the appellant and the service Director, the Committee and all other parties asked questions relating to the information provided.

 

Both the appellant and service Director summed up.

 

The Committee adjourned to make their decision.
