Purpose:

Every year local authorities are required to undertake a review of their scheme to ensure it still meets local needs as well as financial impacts. Any potential changes require full consultation with residents and the final decision made at Full Council for implementation on the 1 April every year for the statutory provisions to be undertaken.

Decision:

Record their preference to increase the maximum level of support for working age cases to 70 per cent (from the current maximum level of 65 per cent) subject to it being affordable to the Council and therefore considered alongside (and part of) the Council's overall Budget for 2023/24

 

Add a local welfare payment disregard to mirror housing benefit regulations

 

Disregard any increase in welfare benefit payments due to crisis or emergency provision.
