Purpose:

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 (‘The Act’) introduces a broad range of new measures designed to strengthen the UK response to domestic abuse.

Part 4 of Act places a duty on each tier one local authority in England to:
• Assess the need for accommodation-based support for victims of domestic abuse (and their children) in their area.
• Prepare and publish a strategy for the provision of such support in their area, with regard to the needs assessment.

The report sets out the IWC’s first strategy for the provision of support in safe accommodation.

Decision:

Option 1 – To approve the Isle of Wight Safe Accommodation Strategy 2022-2025.
